The information you choose to give us will allow ShaSha Co. to assist in tailoring our Web Sites and our tourism marketing initiatives (including promotional offers from our partners) to individuals who use the Web Sites. It is always your choice whether or not to provide personal information. If you choose not to provide requested personal information, you may not be able to use certain features of the Web Sites.
4. INFORMATION AUTOMATICALLY COLLECTED
Non-Identifiable Information: As it is typical of many web sites, our Web Sites automatically collect certain non-identifiable information regarding Web Sites users, such as the Internet Protocol (IP) address of your computer, the IP address of your Internet Service Provider, the date and time you access the Web Sites, the Internet address of the web site from which you linked directly to the Web Sites, the operating system you are using, the sections of the Web Site you visit, the Web Site pages read and images viewed, and any content you download. The date and time you visited our Web Sites and the page which you visited on our Web Sites, along with the address of the web site you may link to from our Web Sites or the address of the previous web site you were visiting, if you linked to us from another web site. This anonymous/non-personal information which is gathered may be used for research and analytical purposes and we may provide this information to the operators of sites that link to and from our Web Sites to verify the effectiveness of such linkages or consumer travel preferences. We also use this non-identifiable information for Web Site and system administration purposes and to improve the Web Sites. Information on individual visitors is used by Canadian Tourism Commission employees who need to know the information in order to respond to your request or to ensure the security of this system.
5. USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
All personal information held or collected by ShaSha Co. is protected under the Privacy Act. This means that at any point of collection you may be asked for consent to collect your information. We will use the personal information that you provide to us to create consumer profiles. These profiles are maintained to enable our members or providers and potential providers of tourism products and services in the travel and tourism industry participating in our tourism programs to provide you with personalized travel and tourism information. You may also be specifically asked for personally identifiable information when using the Travel Notebook, sending electronic Postcards, registering for Travel Canada Newsletter or affinity programs, entering promotions or sweepstakes or sending feedback to ShaSha Bread and Co. and your consent to provide this information to industry members may be requested and obtained at that time. Any personal information you give us will only be used for the purpose of sending you tourism publications, newsletters and tourism notices and partner promotions; tourism research; for program, publication, advertising and Web Site evaluation and improvement; for questionnaires and responding to your comments or inquiries. You may receive marketing e-mails from ShaSha Co. if you have provided your e-mail address and agree to these services. From time to time we may use e-mail as a way to keep in touch with our members and other individuals and each e-mail includes a response address. If you decide you do not want to receive marketing or communication by e-mail, simply send a reply e-mail advising us and we will remove your name and e-mail address from our lists. We may use your information to create demographic or statistical information for research purposes. This information may be shared with providers and potential providers of tourism services in Canada. Such providers are given only the information necessary to perform those required services. However, these summaries will not include any personal information that could be used to identify you, unless you have specifically consented to this purpose or unless the information is necessary for them to perform those services. In addition, these providers are bound by strict contractual obligations prohibiting them from storing or using the information for purposes other than to carry out the service that they have been contracted to provide. They are also bound to protect the security of your information in a manner consistent with the privacy policies and practices that we are governed by.
6. CONSENT TO DISCLOSURE
By using our Web Sites, you signify your consent to the disclosure of your personal information in the following circumstances:
- Disclosure to Canadian Tourism Product and Service Providers: We may provide your personal information to certain of our members. Before personal information is disclosed, the recipient organization will agree with ShaSha Co. to protect the privacy of your personal information in a manner that is consistent with this Policy and the Privacy Act and policies. Recipient organizations may use your personal information to provide you with email or other information about their products and services and other matters.
- Disclosure to Service Providers: In order to permit the efficient operation of the Web Sites and to process certain transactions, we may disclose your personal information to certain service providers. The service providers to whom personal information is disclosed have agreed with ShaSha Co. to protect the privacy of your personal information in a manner that is consistent with this Policy.
- Law Enforcement and Legal Disclosure: We may disclose your personal information to a government institution that has asserted its lawful authority to obtain the information or where we have reasonable grounds to believe the information could be useful in the investigation of unlawful activity, or to comply with a subpoena or warrant or an order made by a court, person or body with jurisdiction to compel the production of information, or to comply with court rules regarding the production of records and information, or to our legal counsel. 7. SECURING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
Once your personal information reaches us, it will be stored off-line on a system not accessible on the Internet. ShaSha Co. maintains strict current security standards to protect your personal information against authorized access, disclosure and alteration. Electronic client files are kept in a highly secured environment with restricted access. We routinely update on-line security technologies to ensure our Web Sites are secure.
Although ShaSha Bread and Co. takes all reasonable measures to maintain the Security of its Web Sites, the Internet is not a secure medium and security and privacy cannot be ensured. Internet e-mails are especially vulnerable to interception and forging. ShaSha Co. will not be responsible for any damages you may suffer as a result of transmitting sensitive personal information electronically or explicitly or implicitly authorizing ShaSha Co. or others to send confidential or personal information to you in this manner. The Web Sites are maintained by Business Interactive, an outside service provider.
Business Interactive is bound by contract with ShaSha Co. to comply fully with the above-stated policies of ShaSha Co. Any message you send to Business Interactive regarding the functioning of the Web Sites, and any personal information that accompanies the message, is included and protected by the Privacy Policy.
8. UPDATING, ACCESSING AND AMENDING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
You may at any time, view and update your personal information or advise us to stop using or retaining it. We will then delete your personal information from our system. We may retain a summary of demographic information for research purposes, but this information will not be capable of identifying you. To help us keep your personal information up-to-date, we encourage you to amend inaccuracies and make corrections as often as necessary. However, sometimes errors do occur. Should you identify any incorrect or out-of-date information, we will make the proper changes immediately upon your notification.
